Heat-sensitive materials can be continually dried using agitated thin-film drying (ATFD), with full solvent recovery maintained. High throughput is achieved by ATFD’s effective operation in vacuum. For materials that are sensitive to heat and oxygen, ATFD uses indirect heating and drying under inert circumstances. Our vertical ATFD is designed at Kerone Engineering Solutions Ltd. to be used efficiently with a variety of process fluids, including liquids, slurries, and pastes. These process fluids are changed from liquids to solids that flow freely continuously in a single pass. The usage of hinged rotor blades produces high turbulence. In addition to preventing fouling, the space between the heated wall surfaces and the blades can make it simple for volatiles to escape. Our modernized and dynamic vertical ATFD produces very desirable quality items through drying.

Operational Principle:

Utilizing continuous, vigorous agitation for efficient heat transfer, concentrated materials are processed to dry solids. For effective heat transfer, the heating surface is continuously scraped with dry solids.

Agitated Thin Film Dryer (ATFD), a prospective replacement for conductive drying technologies, creates a thin film on the product after indirectly touching it with hot air or steam. This thin film provides the energy for evaporation. The material that needs to be dried is put in a vertical chamber with a fast rotating fan. In order to maintain an effective rate of heat transfer, the rotor adheres the film to the surface of the walls. High heat transfer rates cause the liquid substance to slowly transform into a dry powder over time. The unique technology of the Agitated Thin Film Dryer (ATFD) allows it to work under high vacuum. They are among the most promising continuous dryers and can be used with a wide range of materials.
